Amin Farhang Los Angeles ·

I run operations for a luxury menswear brand in Los Angeles. Before that, ten years putting people in rooms.

Eighty events, twenty thousand people, on three continents. I am a map nerd, a home cook, and permanently attached to Red Hot Chili Peppers, in a bottle or in my headphones. The globe is the honest version of a résumé. Spin it.

Work

Places I've been useful.

A pattern I only noticed in hindsight: I keep getting hired into places where something is already running and nobody built the system to hold it. Payments, marketplaces, accelerators, and now apparel.

Rooms

Ten years of getting people in a room.

An event is a mess with a deadline and an audience. The only way to survive one is to get the right people to agree in advance, write down who does what, and build a run of show that works when you are not standing there.

Which turned out to be the same job I do now. The deadline is just less public.

Occasionally

Somewhere to rant.

I hosted a business podcast, a YouTube channel and rather a lot of live Q&As, and what I actually miss is having somewhere to say the thing out loud. So this is that. No format. No schedule. Not weekly, not monthly, not a series, and there is no framework at the end of it.

Sometimes it will be something that broke at work. Sometimes it will be a thing about how companies are run that has annoyed me for years. Sometimes it will be about chili. It goes out when I have something worth saying and stays quiet when I don't, which is most of the time.

Leave your email if you want it. The only promise I will make is that it will be entertaining.
